Homework 6

1.Four each of the four elements of the Tetrad, explain how it is addressed by your game. If one of the four elements is not used, please state this.

  • story: Our story is about the game is set in a dystopia, in which the world is torn by chaos (of course) and the lands have been separated in fragments. With this dilemma, the energy source of the world have diminished, some sort of world crisis, with your hero being the “chosen one” of sorts to restore this world by uniting these fragmented lands.
  • Mechanics: the goal of our game is really simple.there will be have five levels in our game. each level has different environment and boss. so the way to save the world is going to the different level and kill the boss, after that the environment will be  restore.

  • Aesthetics: We still worked on the aesthetics, but we got the basic idea about the environment and the weapons. still think about characters and enemy.

  • Technology: we didn't go very deep on it. but i think we will be base on the blender, but we might use Maya and photoshop to help we do the project.

2.Do the four (or less) elements work towards a current theme?

  • I think so, we still need to discuss about it. but for right now i think four elements work towards a theme.

3.In your own words, describe the meaning of a "theme", and how does it differ from an "experience" (see book for examples in Chapters 2 and 5.
  • For me the theme is more like the focus point. It gets people's attention and let people to understand the story of the game.
4.What is your game's theme?
  •  I think for right now is saving the world, but i am not sure will we be change it or not.
5.What are the elements in your game that are meant to reinforce this theme?
  •  I think it will be the environment and the magic weapon.
6.What is it about your game that you feel makes it special and powerful?
  •  I think the aesthetics and the story. I think the idea of the story will be fit in our future because of the energy. And the about aesthetic idea is really special(for me). we have different environment in different level. we also have four to five character for different environment, their weapons are represent each environment. We do some research about the weapon and each weapon will be fit in character and environment.

Homework 5: game Engie

I created a tree in blender because there is an forest in our game. First i just made a cube and add edge loop and extrude the faces to make it look like a tree. I am still practicing how to make the object to be perfect.

After finish the model, i try to add controls. in the game we have some fighting scenes, so the magic attack will be going around. So, I make the simple ball shape to pretend is a magic power.

The "r" and "t" are different rotation for the tree."M" is move horizontal for the tree "U" go for up. "space" means restart.  "C" is moving the magic power.

So if type P to play around it, you can make a easy simple animation such as the magic power hits the tree and tree will be falling down.

Homework 3

Our team want to develop a sidescroller rpg game(somewhat like Valkyrie Profile). Our game is going to have a big emphasis on it’s story, which(for now) involves some sort of dystopian theme where the world is falling apart from a diminishing(or extinguished) energy source of sorts and our hero(or heroes, we still have yet to decide if we are going to involve more than one protagonist) is the “chosen one” that has to save the day. Our intended audience is really anyone who enjoys a good story and also like more artistically inclined games, with the settings and art style being a very important part of our game.

For this homework, my teammate want me to make a tree because the tree will be part of environment in our game. I will put the texture on later, still trying to get use for blender.
